“I need someone to steal my destiny,” says Park Min Young’s Kang Ji Won, who is being stabbed to death by her husband and best friend. Studio Dragon, which has come up with revenge potboilers like The Glory and Vincenzo, comes with its latest time travel revenge thriller Marry My Husband, an adaptation of the webtoon of the same name. It tells the story of a terminally ill woman who witnesses her best friend having an affair with her husband and then they brutally murder her. When she travels back in time, she finds a willing ally in the form of her boss Yoo Ji Hyuk (Na In Woo), who helps her plot revenge. Marry My Husband is streaming on Prime Video.

Park Min Young says she was attracted to the premise of the show. “There was not much similarity with the character, he is a timid, dependent and suffering character which I had not played before. I wanted to see him get stronger and thought, ‘Come on, let’s get satisfying revenge.’ Moreover, when the script came to me, it was very readable and kept me engaged.
The actor’s drastic physical changes, particularly his deliberate weight loss to portray a sick character, as well as Kang Ji Won’s frailty, had drawn the attention of fans, who expressed concern. The actress, who stressed that she doesn’t recommend extreme dieting, said, “I’m not much of a glutton and I try to eat healthy in general, so I was fine. Also, I ate a healthy diet except the day before the shoot.

One of the most popular South Korean actors, Park Min Young is a household name due to his vast repertoire of dramas. “I chose then and now based on my intuition,” she says. It’s also important for me that the script is fun to read, so that I can be happy shooting it, whether it works or not.”
