This feature is used in summer when the air outside the car is very hot. The car’s AC has to work harder to draw in the hot air from outside and cool it down. Even if the AC blower is run at full speed, it takes more time for the car cabin to cool down.

This is how air recirculation works
When the air recirculation button present in the car is turned on, the air conditioner of the car does not suck the hot air from outside, but uses the air being put inside the cabin by the air conditioner. After pressing this button, the car’s AC draws air from the cabin, cools it and sends it back to the cabin. This process continues continuously. AC cools the cold air further and returns it to the cabin. Due to this the car cools down quickly.
It is not good to drive for too long
It is not good to run the AC on air recirculation mode for a long time. The reason for this is that the recirculation mode uses the air inside the vehicle again and again. Using recirculation mode for a long time without fresh outside air may deteriorate the air quality inside the cabin. Apart from this, it can also increase the humidity in the air. Therefore, this feature of AC should be used only for some time to cool the car quickly. In the winter season, the recirculation button can be used to remove fog accumulated in the glass inside the car cabin.
