An aristocratic class of Mumbai School has been arrested under protection from the sexual offenses (POCSO) Act. According to Hindustan Times, she faces allegations of sexual harassment with class 11 to 16 -year -old male student on several occasions.
Police said the 40 -year -old teacher, who is married and has children, allegedly attracted to the boy during the dance group meetings at the end of 2023 and made advances in January 2024. The boy initially avoided him.
The teacher then included a female friend, arrested him, to convince him. The friend allegedly told the minor that the relationship between older women and adolescent boys was “common” and he and the teacher were formed “for each other”.
After the phone call, the boy met the teacher. He allegedly threw him into a sedan, now seized, in an isolated place, tremendously set and assaulted him.
A police officer told HT, “In the next few days, when the student developed rapid concern, he also gave it to some opposing concerns.”
Months after the alleged misconduct began, the student’s family paid attention to the change in his behavior. He then told them about the events. The family initially kept quiet, hopefully the situation will end as the student was near the end of the school.
After passing his exam, the student fell into depression. He left school first in 2025. The cases worsened when the teacher tried to contact him again.
Subsequently, the family decided to contact the police. A case has been registered under the POCSO Act and other relevant laws.
Police say the teacher took him to five -star hotels in South Mumbai and to the airport for sexual encounters. She reportedly often used to get drunk.
The teacher is now in police custody. His arrest has shocked the school community.
Does the POCSO Act apply to male victims?
Under the POCSO Act, the victim is a child (less than 18 years), whether it is a boy or a girl. The law is gender neutral, meaning that the victim or criminal may be a man or woman.
Both male and female criminals are treated equally under law. POCSO punishes three main types of sexual offenses: using a child in sexual harassment, sexual harassment and pornography.
“Any function performed with sexual intentions on a child associated with physical contact is considered a sexual attack under the POCSO Act.
Under the POCSO Act, sexual harassment on a child is considered a very serious crime. It is punished more strictly than other types of sexual abuse.
For general sexual harassment on a child, the punishment is at least three years in jail, which can go up to 5 years, as well as fines. However, for penetrating sexual harassment, punishment is strict.
In such cases, the culprit will have to face at least seven years of prison, which can go to life as well as life imprisonment.
