In the latest list of donations released by the Election Commission of India on March 17, Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress has once again emerged as the second largest recipient of donations through the electoral bond scheme.
The party which got power in West Bengal Donation of Rs 1397 crore. The latest details released on Sunday are of political donations for the period between March 9, 2018 and April 11, 2019.

Details of political donations through electoral bonds from April 12, 2019 to January 24, 2024 were made public by the Election Commission of India on March 14.
However, the fresh data in the sealed envelope does not include the names of donors except from a few parties like DMK and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The commission uploaded the data of now-expired electoral bonds for political donations on its website as per the Supreme Court (SC) order on March 14. In compliance with the Supreme Court order, SBI handed over the electoral bond data to the election body earlier this week.

Following the Supreme Court’s direction, State Bank of India (SBI), which was the authorized seller of electoral bonds, shared the data with the Election Commission on March 12, which was finally uploaded by the Election Commission on its website on March 14.
But Mamata Banerjee’s party was the second-largest party receiving political donations through electoral bonds, with Rs 1,609 crore received in the first data between April 2019 and January 2024 released on March 14. There was an increase in donations after the party’s victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections in 2021.
The West Bengal Assembly elections, which the Trinamool Congress won, were held between March 27 and April 29, 2021.
