The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday made several changes in the voter list after operating a special intensive amendment (SIR) of the election role in Bihar. The ECI said that it has been discovered that 18 lakh registered voters have passed away, 26 lakh voters have shifted to other constituencies and have seven lakh duplicate voters.
In a release, ECI shared that 97.30 percent of a total of 7,89,69,844 voters, or 76,834,228, has so far filled the calculation forms.
The Election Commission said that CEO, DEO, ERO and BLO officials are actively working with representatives of all political parties and shared a list of 21.36 lakh voters, whose forms have not yet been received. He has also shared a list of about 52.30 lakh voters who are allegedly dead, permanently shifted, or have enrolled in many places.
Additionally, a detailed list of voters was not found, which is being shared by Eros/Blossy with political parties, the ECI said. The pole body has mentioned that an entire month will be given to anyone who wants to register objections to improve any addition, deletion and draft electoral rolls.
Meanwhile, the opposition has repeatedly criticized Sir, accusing the NDA alliance of taking voting rights from people. Also read Bihar Election Roll Amendment: EC before the time limit of July 25, more than 80% calculation forms have been collected so far.
Expressing strong reservation, MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleged that the election results in Maharashtra were “rigged” by the voters and now efforts are underway to remove the names of voters in Bihar. He said that Sir practice was “conspiracy to take away the right to vote”.
“First of all, in Maharashtra, the elections were rigged in the elections by inflating the voter lists. Now, in Bihar, attempts are being made to do this by removing the names of voters. There is a conspiracy to snatch the right to vote given by the Constitution to the ‘vote ban’ imposed under the guise of Sir. We are standing against every effort.”
Bihar assembly elections are expected to be held in October or November at the end of this year; However, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not announced the official date.
