Many dummy students were found in several schools during a surprising inspection in 15 schools in Delhi, Chandigarh, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
The CBSE said that the primary objective of surprise inspections was to investigate, scout and find out if the school was working in compliance with the board norms according to the sub-laws of the board and not enrolling non-predictive students while maintaining the educational and physical infrastructure in the school.
Asked why these specific schools were selected for inspection, CBSE Secretary, Himanshu Gupta said, “According to the records, nominations in class XITH and XIIIth were high in high levels at 9th and 10th place. Use of technology to identify schools. Yes, in many schools, dummy students were found.”
The CBSE stated that all inspections were executed in a small window at the same time to ensure that the surprise element is intact to get accurate information about the work and operation of schools, which were inspected on their dates of inspection.
“Further, necessary action will be taken after considering the reports of the inspection committee. CBSE is committed to maintaining educational standards and will remain in implementing strict measures against any violation of its rules,” said this.
