Delhi government is considering increasing the maximum age limit for the exam. As a result, the exams scheduled for March have been postponed until the changes are finalised. Education Minister Ashish Sood has issued an order in this regard.
Many candidates in Delhi have argued that they have crossed the age limit due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lack of regular examinations in the past years. As a result of the directive of Minister Ashish Sood, candidates who have reached the age of 40 years and were ineligible this year will now get relief. The latest updates will be available on the official website dsssb.delhi.gov.in.
Thousands of candidates had appealed to the government that the previous administration had not conducted the DSSSB exams on time. This delay made many eligible candidates ineligible for government job recruitment due to crossing the age limit. They argued that their future was jeopardized by the system’s inefficiencies, not their own.
According to AyraNews24x7 Hindi report, Sood has directed that the current exam schedule be stopped to protect the interests of the candidates. DSSSB TGT exam, which was initially planned for March 2026, has been postponed until a new notification is issued regarding age limit increase. The government aims to remove the harm caused to youth by the previous system by increasing the age limit.
This new approach is expected to benefit those who have crossed the age limit of 32 or 35 years. It is expected that the general category will also get significant age relaxation, allowing candidates up to 40 years of age to once again aspire to become government teachers. Education Department is examining the legal aspects and rules, new orders and exam date will be announced soon.
Sood also said that the negligence of the previous governments wasted the valuable time of the youth. Due to delay in the recruitment process, the vacant posts remained unfilled for years. The Delhi Government now aims to provide fair opportunities to these youth, ensuring that the future of eligible candidates is not jeopardized by delay in the examination. This decision has brought a lot of relief to those candidates who had lost hope of getting a government job.
