HagueUS President Donald Trump met Ukraine President Volodimir Zelanski during the NATO summit on Wednesday and said that the expenditure by the Trans-Alantic alliance could help prevent Russia’s aggression against neighbors in future. NATO members have agreed to increase their spending target by 2035 to five percent of the GDP.
Trump also reiterated that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to end the war in Ukraine which began in February 2022 with the Moscow invasion of Moscow. This was the first meeting between Trump and Zelanski after a meeting at St. Peter Basilica during the funeral of Pope Francis in April. Trump had a lot of altercation with Jailonsky at the White House earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Trump on Wednesday confirmed his support for NATO’s mutual defense guarantee. A day before this, he shook the alliance of 32 countries again, doubting the commitment to it. Trump said about 24 hours later that he is standing with that commitment.
