Donald Trump boycotted the G-20 conference, accusing him of atrocities on white farmers in South Africa. The South African government described it as ‘false and imperialist interference’. The Foreign Minister said that the crimes are not related to apartheid, but are common crimes.

US President Donald Trump has refused to participate in the G-20 summit to be held in South Africa. Now the South African government and the ruling party African National Congress (ANC) have reacted sharply to Trump’s statement. Trump had announced that America would not participate in the upcoming G-20 summit. This conference is to be held in Johannesburg after two weeks. Trump said on social media platforms that ‘in South Africa, white Afrikaner farmers are being murdered and their lands are being taken away. As long as these human rights violations continue, no American official will participate in the G-20.
Describing it as a ‘shameful situation’, he said that ‘G-20 should not be held in South Africa.’ This statement of Trump was also supported by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Rubio wrote on Twitter, ‘Africans are constantly victims of racial violence. I welcome this decision of Trump. But South Africa’s ruling party ANC has called these claims completely ‘false’ and ‘imperialist interference’. Party general secretary Fikile Mbalula said, ‘To say that a genocide of white farmers is taking place in our country is completely wrong. This lie is an insult to our democracy and sovereignty. He said that South Africa is a constitutional democracy which does not discriminate against any race.
Will be successful even without America
Mbalula further said, ‘We will successfully organize the G-20 summit even in the absence of America. Our country believes in fair trade and equal partnership, not in dominance by superpowers. He alleged that Trump is trying to ‘undermine South Africa’s sovereignty and misrepresent its democratic values’. South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola also described Trump’s claims as ‘politically motivated and baseless’.
He said, ‘Talks like massacre of white farmers are just political propaganda. Police statistics show that both blacks and whites are victims of crimes committed on farms. Lamola said that a total of 225 people were killed in the violence on farms from April 2020 to March 2024, of which 101 were black laborers and 53 victims were farmers, most of whom were white.
