1. Check the exterior for scratches or paint imperfections
Start by taking a slow walk around the car in daylight. Look carefully for scratches, dents or any uneven paint patches that may indicate damage during transportation. Check that the paint color is the same on all panels and ensure that the doors, bonnet and boot are properly aligned and operate smoothly.
It may seem basic, but spotting such issues at the time of delivery can save you from later disputes or costly bodywork repairs. Recent videos on social media have also drawn attention to shady dealers who attempted to deliver units with large dents that were concealed by local repairs.
2. Inspect tyres, lights and mirrors
Tires must be brand new, with no signs of wear or damage. Verify that all four tires, plus the spare, are of the same brand, size and tread pattern.
Next, check the headlamps, tail lamps, fog lamps and indicators to make sure all are working and free from cracks or moisture. Windshields and window glass should be spotless, with no scratches or chips that may spread over time.
3. Step inside and test out all the interior features

5. Verify all documents and promised goods
This is where you need the most attention to detail and fine print:
