Actor Divya Dutta is on a role. He started a conspiracy in Vicky Kaushal-Starr Chhawa of Laxman YouTekar this year, which is the highest-grossing film of this year. And now, he is set to debut in Telugu with the Soniliv web series Mayasabh, directed by Deva Katta. In a chat with Hindustan Times, the actor says, “I knew that the shade would do a good job, but it should have lost with enthusiasm.”
Divya Dutta in the world of Mayasabh
Set in the 1970s and 80s, the Maysabha examined the dynamic between two rival politicians, Krishnama Naidu and Rami Reddy, who was played by Audi Pinnis and Chaitanya Rao. Divya plays the role of Iravati Basu, who commands respect in the world ruled by men. “I believe this role is perfectly suitable for starting its innings in Telugu. What is better than playing a woman in politics that keeps herself while facing men?” Divya says.
The actor says that she was ready for the power of her character commanders and how Dev explained the story to her. “I immediately cute the way Dev Katta narrated to Mayasabha to Mayasabha. It is cute as an actor when you tap in nuances and play with layers in any character. The way he exchanges, the way he stands, he was so well removed, it was a ball, it was a ball.

Rajinikanth, whistling of Kamal Haasan films
Divya praised her co-stars and said, “Audi and I met very much from the moment when I met him. He is a wonderful boy, a brilliant actor and just to live with a super fun. It took a little time to open Chaitanya for me, but we were eventually an attractive fan with Nasar.”
What is more, it is clear about his hobbies for other actors in the south. “I see South films and whistle when Kamal Haasan or Rajinikanth come on-screen. Dev Katta has told me that he will bring me to Hyderabad, and I am already doing a Hindi film produced by Rana Daggubati. I have already done my march here and there is another anything with such amazing projects.”
On seeking sweets after bread
Acting in films like Bhag Milkha Bhag and Sharmiji Ki BT, Divya says that she is now looking for roles that she can immerse her teeth in the 1990s and acting in films like Bhaig Milkha Bhag and Sharmiji Ki BT. “I have two films with Manoj Bajpayee, a biopic with one Jimmy and a biopic with Neeraj Kabi, in addition to a huge show on Gehotstar. There was always hunger to play a good role, but now I have eaten bread, I am doing some sweets. It was a great hard work (hard work).
The actor says that he has seen how the roles written for women do not revolve around the trop of ‘One Hero, One Heroine’. “Everyone is now playing the character, and there is a beautiful competition for it. It doesn’t like how it used to be … how many specific heroines were considered to be a short shelf life. Now we are discussing women who are 40 and older, roles are now so beautifully written,” says Divya.
Even when she falls in the south, Divya says that there are some things that she likes to turn into Bollywood. “I really want us to focus more on stories and less on other things. And before hitting OTT, there was enough time to perform films in theaters. I had gone to theaters in the last few weeks and saw the entire houses. So the audience is interested, they don’t want to be fed the same things,” she closes.
