Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan On Monday, Tamil Nadu chief minister M.K. Stalinclaims that the best performing states are being denied funds by the Centre. Samagra Shiksha Scheme on refusal to implement National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Accusing the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister of pitting states against each other to raise the issue of non-implementation of the new National Education Policy (NEP), the Union Education Minister said, “Healthy competition among states is always welcome in a democracy. However, pitting states against each other to raise an issue is against the spirit of the Constitution and the value of a unified India. NEP 2020 has been prepared through wide consultations and bears the collective wisdom of the people of India.”
On microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Pradhan questioned Stalin’s “principled” opposition to the NEP.
“Are you opposing education in mother tongue, including Tamil? Are you opposing the holding of exams?” Indian Languages “Are you opposing the creation of textbooks and content in other Indian languages including Tamil? Are you opposing the holistic, multi-disciplinary, equitable, forward-looking and inclusive framework of the NEP?”, the Union Education Minister posted.
Pradhan asked the Tamil Nadu chief minister to prioritise the interests of Tamil Nadu students over his (Stalin’s) political gains and implement the NEP.
