The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) is training 104 teachers under ‘Project Abhijat’ at a government school in Kalkaji here from Tuesday, officials said.
The focus areas of the project include identifying gifted learners, selecting teachers equipped to deliver the specific curriculum, developing curriculum to meet the specific needs of gifted students, and ensuring the effective delivery of this curriculum.
Nahar Singh, Joint Director, SCERT, said, “The primary goal of the project is to bridge the gap between the current abilities of these students and their immense potential. This will be achieved by providing specialised support and a well-developed curriculum to ensure their success.”
Another official said that the aim of the project is to unearth the untapped potential of Class 6 and Class 9 students who are better than the others.
Officials said teachers usually focus on students who are weak in their academics and this sometimes results in ignoring the abilities of talented students.
Officials said the project was launched by the Directorate of Education and SCERT to identify talented students from 15 government schools.
The topic of the first day of the training programme was “Introduction and Understanding of Talent”. On Wednesday, the teachers attended a session focused on the introduction of the project.
