In a tragic incident, a government school teacher died of cardiac arrest after he received a call from cyber fraudsters that his daughter was embroiled in a sex scandal.
According to her family, on September 30, the fraudsters allegedly threatened the teacher and demanded Rs 1 lakh for non-disclosure of the matter.
Mother Malti Verma (58) was a government teacher in a junior high school in Achhnera, Agra. On September 30, at 12 noon, he received a WhatsApp call saying that his daughter was embroiled in a sex scandal and started threatening him. About the future consequences of revealing the identity of his daughter,” Dipanshu Rajput, son of the deceased, told news agency PTI.
Rajput said, the caller had introduced himself as a police inspector.
She also said, “After that he talked to me on the phone and told me about the call. But when I checked the phone number, I told my mother that it was a fraud call from cyber criminals.”
Deepanshu further said, “After this I also talked to my sister and found everything normal.” I told my mother not to worry as she had become a victim of cyber fraud, but she could not control her stress and her health deteriorated after that call.”
Malti Verma complained of chest pain and nervousness after returning home from school. When his health started deteriorating, his family members took him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead due to cardiac arrest.
-Jagdishpura police station in-charge Anandveer Singh told PTI: “We have received a complaint from the family in this matter. Action will be taken accordingly.”
On this tragic incident, Congress said that such cases have become very common in the country and there is a need to deal with them.
