CP Radhakrishnan, vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party -led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), filed nomination papers on 20 August. Radhakrishnan was accompanied by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, with other leaders.
Before filing his papers, Radhakrishnan on Wednesday paid statues of idols of statues of iconic personalities in the Parliament complex before filing his nomination. He first bowed to the huge statue of Mahatma Gandhi and then proceeded to pay tribute to other renowned personalities.
Radhakrishnan has been raised against former Supreme Court Judge B Sudarsen Reddy, which was named by the opposition India Block on 9 September for the Vice President’s election.
Radhakrishnan’s nomination came a month later when Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned as Vice President on 21 July, opening a competition for his successor. 74 -year -old Dhankhar assumed office in August 2022 and served till 2027.
