Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) on Monday approved names for 12 Lok Sabha seats from Madhya Pradesh, sources said.
Sources said that Kamal Nath’s son Nakul Nath will contest from Chhindwara seat.
Earlier in the evening, the Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress met for the second time at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in Delhi.
Party sources said that the meeting was called at 6 pm and it was presided over by party national president Mallikarjun Kharge. Also, Congress Parliamentary Party and President Sonia Gandhi attended the meeting, Rahul Gandhi was in Delhi, but he did not attend the meeting.
Apart from Nakul, Congress will field Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav from Jalore in Rajasthan.

Sources said that both Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot are unlikely to contest the elections.
The seats discussed in the meeting included 14 each from Rajasthan, Assam and Gujarat, 16 from Madhya Pradesh and five from Uttarakhand besides one seat from the Union Territory of Daman and Diu.
For Rajasthan, around 10 candidates were finalised, including Rahul Kaswan from Churu, who quit the BJP and joined the Congress on Monday; Vaibhav Gehlot from Jalore and Harish Meena from Tonk-Sawai Madhopur.
In the CEC meeting, the first discussion took place for the five parliamentary seats of Uttarakhand. The CEC was joined by former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Ambika Soni, TS Singhdev, PL Punia and Mohammed Javed, among others.
Maximum discussion is expected to take place on the Lok Sabha seats of Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh.
Congress had released its first list of candidates for 39 Lok Sabha constituencies on March 8.
Names have been announced for the Lok Sabha seats of Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Telangana and Tripura.
Of the 39 candidates declared, 16 are from Kerala, seven from Karnataka, six from Chhattisgarh and four from Telangana.
Two from Meghalaya and one each from Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim and Lakshadweep.
According to the first list of candidates released by the party, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has been re-nominated from Rajnandgaon, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal from Alappuzha (Kerala) and Shashi Tharoor has been re-nominated from Thiruvananthapuram.
