In a shocking incident, a 13 -year -old girl was allegedly raped by a traffic constable in Mylapur area of Chennai.
The policeman, identified as Raman, has been arrested by the police in connection with the case.
After the police, the case came to light, acting on the missing complaint of his mother, detected a girl living with her 16 -year -old lover in Kudundar.
The mother of the minor girl had filed a complaint with the Maylapur All Women Police, saying that her daughter was missing since January 25.
After an inquiry, the girl revealed that her lover had sexually abused her on the pretext of marriage.
The girl ran away from her house on 25 January and went to the lover’s house but her mother refused to go inside.
After not going anywhere, she was sleeping on a pavement in Maylapur, where a traffic police arrived and offered to leave her home.
But instead, he sexually abused her in the vehicle.
Subsequently, he took her to a police booth, where she again sexually assaulted the minor girl.
Later, she again went to her lover and joined a relative of Kudalore together, where she allegedly raped her.
The police have detained the minor boy and his mother on charges of protection of children from the Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO).
Coolie arrested for raping a woman in a train in Mumbai
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident from Mumbai, a Porter was arrested for allegedly raping a woman in a long distance train. Police officials said the incident took place in Bandra Terminus on Sunday.
The “middle -aged” woman and her son arrived at Bandra Terminus by an outstation train on Saturday night. After getting down, he entered another train, which was pulled to the other side of the stage, the officer said.
Officials of the Government Railway Police (GRP) said that there was no passenger in the second train at that time.
However, a porter was present in the second train and allegedly raped the woman, the official stated that citing the FIR.
The accused escaped from the scene after allegedly sexually assaulted the woman. The woman then approached Bandra GRP Police Station and lodged a complaint.
The official said the railway police went to track the porter through footage from several surveillance cameras and arrested him.
“We are trying to find out why the woman entered another train after going to Bandra Terminus,” the official said.
The accused Coolie has been booked for rape under the Indian Joint Code, the official said, “refused to share more information related to the alleged crime.”
