CAT 2024 Result 2024 Case: A petition has been filed against the results of Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 over discrepancy in CAT answer keys. According to Bar and Bench, a candidate named Aditya Kumar Malik has filed a challenge against the IIM CAT 2024 results alleging discrepancies in the Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) section. The Delhi High Court, hearing the case on December 24 and 31, sought responses from the Education Ministry and CAT 2024 convenor, IIM Calcutta. The next hearing of the case is to be held on January 3.
Mallick has raised concerns about a discrepancy in a question in the comprehension section of the CAT 2024 exam held on November 24. The plea argues that the said question challenged the question in the CAT 2024 answer key, although IIM Calcutta had released the final answer. The key said in its notification that no changes are required in the provisional answer key.
Reportedly, the VARC section received 272 complaints and several candidates and MBA faculty members provided detailed documents to challenge the accuracy of the key. The MBA aspirant claimed that the results of CAT 2024, which were expected in the second week of January 2025, were suddenly declared on December 19 without any response from the examination authorities regarding the challenges raised against the answer keys. The petitioner further sought to cancel the CAT 2024 results and appoint a committee to find the correct answer.
Around 2.93 lakh candidates appeared for the CAT 2024 exam, which was conducted in three shifts: Slot 1 from 8:30 am to 10:30 am, Slot 2 from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, and Slot 3 4. From: 30 pm to 6:30 pm. The CAT 2024 question paper consisted of three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA).
