The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has suspended the affiliation of GD Goenka High School, Sohna, Gurugram for the 2026-27 academic session after finding serious violations of affiliation norms related to campus security and sharing of infrastructure.
According to the CBSE order, the school was found to be sharing its infrastructure and premises with two other institutions without proper demarcation or concrete boundary walls. During inspection, officials found that multiple institutions were operating from the same building on all floors, while a university program was running on the top floor of the same structure.
The board said that a school campus shared with other institutions, without adequate separation or boundary walls, exposes students to potential risks, including bullying, harassment or inappropriate interactions with students from nearby higher education institutions. CBSE stressed that it is mandatory for a school to maintain a completely secure campus which is not accessible to outsiders.
“These institutions are functioning in the same building on all floors except for classrooms of a program of the university on the top floor of the same building. A school premises which is shared with other institutions or institutions, without proper boundary walls or adequate physical separation, exposes the students to potential risks…” the CBSE order said.
CBSE said that the school was not able to split the institutions into different campuses in a short period. To ensure a safe learning environment, the board took strict action and suspended the affiliation of the school for one year. Schools have been barred from admitting students in classes 9 and 11 during this period, although current students in classes 9 to 12 can continue their education.
Apart from this, CBSE has canceled the affiliation of Neerja Modi School, Jaipur with immediate effect citing serious security violations revealed after the death of a student.
CBSE, in its order, said the action was taken in connection with the death of a Class 4 student after falling from the fourth floor of the school building on November 1, 2025.
