CBSE has developed a comprehensive CCTV policy.
As per the guidelines, schools that do not currently have CCTV systems will have to install them.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that all examination centers for the upcoming Class 10 and 12 examinations in 2025 will have to be equipped with CCTV. The purpose of this requirement is to ensure the integrity and fairness of the examinations. Around 44 lakh students are expected to appear for the examinations, which will be conducted across India and 26 countries abroad. To accommodate such a large number of candidates, around 8000 schools will serve as examination centres. CBSE has developed a comprehensive CCTV policy that specifies specific requirements for the placement and coverage of cameras at the examination centres. As per the guidelines, schools that do not currently have CCTV systems will have to install them.
The decision to make CCTV mandatory is in line with CBSE’s commitment to maintain the highest standards of transparency and accountability in the examination process. By equipping all the examination centers with CCTV cameras, the authority aims to prevent cheating and other irregularities and provide a safe and conducive environment for students to showcase their knowledge.
Citing a news report in May 2024, it said, “Class 10 and 12 board exams for the 2024-25 academic session will be held from February 15 next year.” The official date sheet for students appearing for the upcoming board exams will be available soon in PDF format. On the official website cbse.gov.in.
As per the previous trends, a separate datesheet for practical examinations will be released by the board. Class 10 practical examinations will be conducted only in front of school instructors, while an external examiner will visit schools for Class 12 practical examinations.
