Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)CBSE) on Thursday issued an advisory to affiliated schools asking them to review their internal assessment processes after a significant difference was found between theory and practical marks in some subjects for 50 per cent or more of students.
The CBSE board said that these variations were detected using advanced artificial intelligence (AI) tools.
According to the official notice of the board, these variations were observed in about 500 affiliated schools based on the result data of previous years. The board said that this highlights the need for careful assessment during practical examinations in schools.
CBSE secretary Himanshu Gupta said, “This difference reflects the need for careful assessment during practical examinations in schools. As a result, the board has issued an advisory to such schools to review their internal assessment processes.” PTI,
It aims to establish a stronger, clearer and more reliable system to ensure that the assessment process is authentic and contributes significantly to students’ educational experience.
He further added, “This advisory serves as a reminder to prioritise fairness and accuracy in the evaluation of practical examinations, which will enhance the quality of education offered in CBSE-affiliated institutions.”
Meanwhile, this year CBSE Class 10th and 12th results were declared on May 13.
At least 87.98% students passed the Class 12 examsThe pass percentage increased by 0.65% compared to last year. Girls outshone boys by a margin of over 6.40%, with over 91% of girls clearing the exam while the pass rate of boys stood at 85.12%.
In Class 10, Total 22,38,827 20,95,467 candidates appeared in the examination, out of which 93.60% passed.
Currently, the board has opened the List of Candidates (LOC) registration window to apply for the schools. Compartment Exam 2024 Go to parikshasangam.cbse.gov.in/ps/.
As per the CBSE notification, schools are required to submit the LOC information on the Pariksha Sangam portal by June 15, 2024.
