Chief Executive Member Promod Boro said the education sector in Bodo dominated areas in Assam has touched a new milestone with the decision to set up 10 space laboratories.
Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), an autonomous body in Assam, signed an agreement with Vyomika Space Labs to set up 10 space laboratories and promote space science learning among students. According to a press release, BTC is an autonomous elected body created under the 6th Schedule of the Constitution and Vyomika Space Labs is a training partner under the Capacity Building Program of ISRO.
The release said the objective of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is to provide space education platform for students in BTC areas, exposure to new and emerging technologies, promotion of science and technology students. Chief Executive Member Promod Boro said the education sector in Bodo dominated areas in Assam has touched a new milestone with the decision to set up 10 space laboratories.
Boro said space laboratories will be set up in BTC areas to arouse curiosity about space exploration, promote learning about space science and inspire the next generation of space enthusiasts. He said that space education is extremely important not only for nurturing the next generation of scientists and engineers but also for inculcating critical thinking, multidisciplinary collaboration, global perspective and a deeper understanding of our planet’s place in the universe.
ISRO Chairman S Somnath also addressed the program virtually.
