Bored with makhan as snacks? Refresh it with a nutrient-rich smoothie

Makhana is prominently eaten as a snack. Give it variation by presenting it in smoothie. Here is the recipe.

Makhana, also known as Fox Nuts or Lotus Seeds, is one of the main traditional snacks in Indian homes. Calorie was low and packed with antioxidants, it is a favorite among fitness enthusiasts. With essential micronutrients such as magnesium, phosphorus and fiber, Makhana is more than just one snack, it is a power plant of goodness.

However, Makhana is mostly consumed as a snack alone. This nutritious component, however, can also be introduced for smoothie.

Makhana in a smoothie

Raha Khosla took on Instagram to share a delicious smooth recipe, including Makhana. He also provided options based on fitness goals, whether he loses weight or more benefits for bullying.

Material:

  • 6-7 almonds
  • 1/2 cup makhana (not roasted)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seed
  • 2 date
  • 1 glass of double toned milk
  • 1/2 apple
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coffee powder

Method:

  • In a bowl, makhana, almonds, dates, chia seeds and milk are added.
  • After soaking it for 30 minutes, it is inserted into a blender.
  • Two tablespoons of cocoa powder, one tablespoon of coffee and apple slices are added.
  • Finally, it is served with dark chocolate and almonds.

Amend the health goals

No two food plans are the same. It all depends on the end fitness target. While some people are looking to reduce body fat, others may aim to gain weight for muscle manufacture.

Nidhi shared these amendments in the recipe, which depends on the goal:

For weight loss:

• Use it as a meal replacement (eg, breakfast) in addition to your diet.

• Reduce the number of dates (1 instead of 2) and almonds (3 instead of 3) to reduce the count of calories.

• Add more protein (eg, Greek curd or whey protein) to keep you for a long time.

To gain weight:

• Keep it as a snack or post-workout smoothie with your regular food.

• Increase in the amount of almonds, chia seeds and makhana for extra calories.

• Use full fat milk instead of double-tond milk.
