Jajpur teacher Mahes Panda clearly challenged the OCS 2023 in his third attempt, balanced his teaching job and preparations for civil services and secured 300th rank.

A 32 -year -old blind teacher from Jajpur district has approved the prestigious Odisha Civil Services (OCS) examination by securing 300th rank in his third attempt. Mahes Panda, a resident of Bari Biruhan village in Kori block, has been working as an Odia teacher at Adarsha Vidyalayala in Kulelo in Athagadh since 2016, as reported by the news agency PTI.
Since birth blind, panda grew up as the youngest of five siblings in a humble family, his father supported a seven-member house through farming.
His father Lakshmi Narayan said, “Despite the best treatment and visits in many hospitals, the doctor could not restore his vision. Finally, we left it for luck.”
Panda completed his matriculation at the school for Blind in Nupada in 2009. He later studied at the University of Ravenshow, obtained a B.Ed degree from Central University at Koraaput, and completed his post-graduation at Odia from Util University.
Financial problems after school were handled with the help of two local beneficiaries, as well as with the support of Yuga Neerman Vidya Parishad and Gayatri Mission in Cuttack, who funded their higher studies.

Talking about how to manage his teaching job with preparations for civil services, Panda said, “Days were to teach students, nights for self-study. With technology, learning has become very easy for the visually challenge.” Happy with his success, Panda credited his family and friends to always support him.
“I will dedicate my life to the welfare of the kingdom,” he said. The results of the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) Examination, 2023 were announced on Friday, in which 398 candidates were cutting.
