The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is entering the final phase of its organizational election process in Uttar Pradesh. According to news agency ANI, nomination for BJP UP President is to be held on Saturday, December 13.
The new BJP UP president is expected to be announced a day later on Sunday.
In the meeting held in Lucknow on Friday, senior party leaders including national and state officials finalized the preparations for the organizational elections.
ANI quoted Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya as saying that the meeting, chaired by BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh, was important in driving the internal democratic process of the party.
He said, “Party’s national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh chaired an important meeting for the election of the state BJP president. State BJP chief Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, BJP Uttar Pradesh general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak and all the officials were present in the meeting.”
Maurya stressed that the BJP, unlike the Samajwadi Party, is committed to a transparent electoral process within the organisation.
He said, “SP is a family party, they take decisions on office-bearers sitting in their dining room. BJP is a democratic party, the largest party in the world and the election process is followed here.”
He also claimed that the Samajwadi Party has “no future left” and predicted a landslide victory for the BJP in the 2027 assembly elections. He said, “In 2027, we will achieve a bigger victory in Uttar Pradesh than in 2017… Akhilesh Yadav’s PDA is fake.”
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak confirmed on Friday that the election process is nearing an end. “UP BJP is taking the election of the state party chief to the final stage,” he said.
Outgoing state president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary said that nominations will be received by senior leaders. “The nominations will be filed on Saturday. Vinod Tawde and Piyush Goyal will receive the nominations…the final list will be published later and the names will be announced the next day,” he announced.
