Gopeshwar (Uttarakhand). Hemkund Sahib, the Sikh pilgrimage site located in the Himalayas of Uttarakhand, will open for devotees on May 25. Shri Hemkund Sahib Management Trust Chairman Narendrajit Singh Bindra said on Thursday that the doors of the Dham will open on May 25 and will close on October 10. He requested the devotees to make their plans accordingly.
Hemkund Sahib is near Badrinath Dham in Chamoli district bordering Uttarakhand. Situated at an altitude of about 15 thousand feet above sea level, this pilgrimage site remains closed in winter. Despite the difficult 17 kilometer route from Pulna to the Gurudwara located in the Himalayas, every year a large number of devotees from India and the world come here to pay obeisance.
The doors of Gurudwara remain closed due to snowfall in winter.
He told that with the arrival of winter season, snowfall starts, in such a situation the road to Hemkund Sahib gets closed and it becomes difficult for people to reach the Gurudwara. Keeping this in mind, every year the doors of the Gurudwara are closed during the winter season and then after the snowfall stops, darshan in the Gurudwara starts. On normal days, the doors of Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara are opened on 25th May, but before that the weather conditions are definitely observed.
Last year more than 2 lakh devotees had paid obeisance
Sri Hemkund Sahib Management Trust has appealed to the devotees to plan their darshan. Last year also, the doors of Shri Hemkund Sahib were opened for the devotees on 20th May. Last year, more than 2 lakh devotees had attended Guru Darbar Sahib and paid obeisance.

If travel gets disrupted due to snowfall, army soldiers do this work
Like every year, the Hemkund Sahib Yatra is sometimes interrupted due to snowfall, but every year lakhs of devotees come. Indian Army soldiers do snow removal work in Sri Hemkund Sahib. Every year lakhs of devotees from India and abroad come to visit Shri Hemkund Sahib and pay obeisance before Guru Maharaj.
