Pune: The recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam has shook the entire country. The direct impact of this incident seems to be falling on the tourism sector. Especially in Kashmir, discussion has started again on the issue of security, due to which the tourism industry across the country is expected to get a big shock. A large number of tourists from cities like Pune travel towards Kashmir and north, which has also showed impact on travel agencies, hotel business and other related services.
Strongly condemning this cowardly attack, Nilesh Bhansali, president of the Top Travel Agency Association Pune, said that every tourist is a part of our family. The government can certainly handle the situation, but citizens and travel agencies also have some responsibility.
Many tourists started canceling their booking
Pune President Nilesh Bhansali further said that the purpose of the attack is to damage peace and tourism in Kashmir. This is threatening the livelihood of the local people. After the attack, many tourists have started canceling their booking. No passenger is being pressured by travel agencies to travel there.
Airlines have announced a refund for cancellation of booking by 7th, but there are problems in getting refunds for customers for the journey after that. In this background, Bhansali has demanded from the government that the deadline for cancellation should be extended by May 31 and instead of giving credit notes, the amount should be returned directly, so that the customers can get financial relief.
Broken family and now deceitful attack! Fake funds gathered in the name of a person killed in Pahalgam attack
Nilesh Bhansali said that about 2.5 crore tourists visit Kashmir every year. Apart from this, lakhs of devotees travel for Amarnath Yatra and Vaishno Devi Yatra. Maharashtra and Gujarat are big markets for Kashmir, in which Mumbai and Pune are at the forefront. Therefore, the Pahalgam attack has a direct impact on the tourism business of Pune.
