Media reports said that former Inspector General of Police (IG) and Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP), Om Prakash, were found dead on Sunday at their Bengaluru residence in HSR Layout area.

Police said that preliminary investigation shows that the former police was murdered by his wife Pallavi, who said that police is now in custody. The Bengaluru police also found several knife wounds on the body of the retired policeman.

The 68 -year -old IPS officer of the 1981 batch came from Champaran, Bihar and was an MSc in Geology. He was appointed as the DGP of Karnataka on 1 March 2015.

What does preliminary inquiry say

The Bengaluru police found a blood-blooded body inside his residence. Initial investigation revealed that she might have killed her husband as a result of a possible domestic conflict or dispute.

The knife found at the crime site has been confiscated. Police believe that Pallavi may have used the same knife to kill Om Prakash. Media reports states that in recent times there was frequent quarrels and personal disagreement between the couple.

Prakash’s body has been taken to the hospital for post -mortem examination.
