The actor recently spoke with Hindustan Times at the Garnier Green Academy event in Singapore, reflecting on his journey in Bollywood and his love for music.
Barkha on her career
She has appeared as a child artist in films such as Mujhse Dosti Karoge (2002) and Samay: When Time Strikes (2003). When it comes to the OTT world, Barkha has cemented her position with projects like Masaba Masaba Season 2, The Great Weddings of Munnes, Please Find Attached Season 3 and Maajaa Maa.
“I have enjoyed doing a lot of rom-coms and a lot of girl next door roles. Now, I am looking forward to more serious and deeper roles. We’ve already entered that,” she tells us.
The actor adds, “My next few releases are a big step away from what the audience has seen me do so far. They have seen me in happy roles. Now they will see me in dark and dirty characters. I am excited about the roles. I personally feel I’m better at it, but haven’t gotten used to it yet. I am very excited for the makers to see that side of me. So, I will get more such roles (in future).”
On her girl-next-door image
By taking the path of playing different roles, Barkha emphasizes that she is not moving away from the image that has made her popular.
“I’m never going away…people have loved and accepted me for this, and I’m very grateful for that. But at the same time, as an actor I am very greedy. I believe I am better at playing serious roles than romantic-comedy films.
In fact, he is happy that OTT has brought so many new opportunities, and “not just for the actors, but for the audience, for the directors, for the writers and for the people involved in the production”.
“It has given a lot of people a lot of options. There is something for everyone in the OTT world. Everyone is able to find something they can relate to. I love the web space. According to Barkha, her relationship with Garnier has changed the way she looks at beauty. “My approach to beauty has always been very simple and straightforward.
