New Delhi: After the killing of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyya, the world is hearing the sound of another war. According to a report, Israeli intelligence agency Mossad has killed Ismail Haniya, the head of Hamas’ political wing. Mossad had hired Iranian security agents to plant explosives in a guest house in Tehran. Hamas chief Haniya was staying in this guest house. However, this was nothing new for Mossad. It has killed its enemies in this way before as well. This is a very old method of Mossad to kill enemies. Mossad has killed many of its enemies in this secret way. It has a long history of killing enemies, sometimes by explosion, sometimes by cyber attack and sometimes by poisoning.

The killing of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh is similar to some of the previous operations of Mossad. In 1978, Mossad also killed the leader of Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) Wadie Haddad in a similar way. Haddad was a prominent figure in the Israel-Palestine conflict. He was known for plotting to hijack an Air France plane in 1976 during the infamous Entebbe operation.

Who was Wadi Haddad?
Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad wanted to take revenge for the Entebbe kidnapping case. Wadi Haddad, the mastermind behind the kidnapping, was Mossad’s target. After this attack, Wadi Haddad came on Mossad’s hit list. After this, Israeli espionage agency Mossad chose a very quiet and secret way to finish him off. Mossad assigned this mission to an agent named ‘Agent Sadness’. This agent had access to Wadi Haddad’s house and office.
How Mossad turned toothpaste into a weapon
On January 10, 1978, Agent Sadness replaced Haddad’s regular toothpaste with a poisonous toothpaste. The poisonous toothpaste was made at the Israel Institute for Biological Research. This poisonous toothpaste would slowly show its effect after Haddad brushed his teeth and enter his mouth. Whenever Haddad brushed his teeth, this deadly poison would enter his mouth little by little.

His hair began to fall out, which further deepened the suspicion of poisoning. After this, Palestinian Liberation Organization leader Yasser Arafat sought help from East Germany’s intelligence agency Stasi.

Stasi airlifted Wadi Haddad to East Berlin and admitted him to a secret hospital named ‘Ahmed Doukaly’. Doctors conducted all kinds of tests on him, but could not find the cause of his illness. They suspected that the poison in his body was from rat poison or thallium, but no concrete evidence was found. Wadi Haddad’s condition continued to deteriorate with severe bleeding and a drop in platelet count. Doctors tried hard for ten days, kept him unconscious, admitted him to the hospital, but could not save him. Finally, he died on 29 March 1978. When Professor Otto Prokop conducted the post-mortem, it was found that Wadi Haddad died of pneumonia caused by brain hemorrhage and panmyelopathy. But, for so many years it was not clear who had poisoned him? It took almost three decades for the truth of Haddad’s murder to come out.
