Delhi Elections 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is distributing money and gold chains to ‘buy votes’ ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Addressing a press conference in the capital, the former Delhi Chief Minister left no stone unturned in blaming the opposition BJP in Delhi.
Arvind Kejriwal claimed that BJP is distributing jackets, shoes, sarees, money and even gold chains to buy votes.
“I have heard that gold chains are being distributed in two colonies. BJP is saying that it will buy votes. I appeal to the people of Delhi not to vote for anyone, including AAP candidates, if they Are offering money or goods,” Kejriwal said at the press conference.
The former Delhi CM also claimed that AAP’s graph is rising and it will get absolute majority once again. Kejriwal said, “As the elections are approaching, it is becoming clear that AAP is going to form a stable government with absolute majority. The graph of AAP is increasing with time.”
Kejriwal claimed that the BJP lacked the vision and leadership to challenge AAP.
The former chief minister said, “The BJP has surrendered all its weapons because it has no narrative, no vision and no chief ministerial face. It has nothing.”
Delhi is gearing up for a competitive three-way contest between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, opposition Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress in the upcoming assembly elections on February 5, 2025.
Amid the heated campaign, both AAP and BJP have accused each other of trying to manipulate voter lists to gain advantage.
As AAP looks to regain power for the third consecutive time after a significant victory in the 2020 elections – where they secured 62 out of 70 seats – the BJP is determined to regain its position after almost three decades in opposition.
In the 2015 and 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP won 67 and 62 seats respectively. The BJP won three seats in 2015 and eight seats in 2020, while the Congress did not win any seats.
