More than 26,000 young candidates participated in a recruitment rally organized by the Army after a gap of five years in Jammu and Kashmir’s border district of Poonch, officials said on Sunday.
Separately, another rally at Dugga near Bhalra in Doda district was attended by over 12,000 enthusiastic youth eager to serve the country, he said.
The recruitment rally in Poonch to fill 307 vacancies for Soldier General Duty and 45 vacancies for Clerks and Tradesmen in the Territorial Army began on November 8 at the Advance Landing Ground in Surankote, officials said.
The rally was open to candidates from 31 tehsils of Jammu division including Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi and Jammu districts for Soldier General Duty, while candidates from across Jammu and Kashmir were eligible to apply for Clerk and Tradesman posts.
Expressing satisfaction over the response of the youth, an Army Recruiting Office official said, “More than 26,000 enthusiastic candidates from across the region participated in the selection process during the 10-day rally, demonstrating their physical and mental readiness to serve the country.” “Participated.” ,
