A new anti-aging pill for dogs has received FDA support and is reportedly close to approval, multiple social media posts claim. According to these claims, the pill could help ‘senior’ dogs stay healthy longer.
The news was shared by multiple accounts online. “A new pill that makes dogs live longer is due to be released next year,” wrote Polymarket, which bills itself as the world’s largest prediction market.
Another page mentions, “The first anti-aging pill for dogs has just received FDA support and is now close to approval, which could help senior dogs stay healthy longer.“Yet another said, “New pill that could keep dogs alive longer will be released next year.”
What is the anti-aging pill being talked about?
The pill in question is LOY-002 from clinical-stage veterinary company Loyal, which is focused on giving dogs ‘longer, healthier lives.’ While news of the tablet has started coming in now, the company had shared an update about it in February 2025.
,LOY-002, our program that provides longevity to dogs of nearly all sizes, has also earned its formal FDA approval for reasonable expectation of efficacy (RXE),” the company announced in a blog post. The company noted that there were two more primary FDA requirements for conditional approval. These are manufacturing and security.
The company noted that it had a comprehensive date supporting both and that it expected to meet regulatory requirements by the end of 2025. This will make the FDA-approved longevity drug, called an anti-aging pill online, a reality for millions of dogs in 2026.
WQHT or Hot 97 said, “Biotech company Loyal is developing a drug aimed at slowing aging in large breed dogs, and early results indicate it could add more healthy years rather than prolonging a more fragile stage of life.,
It adds, “So far, the approach is promising: A pilot study conducted on 48 dogs reported no adverse effects after three months of taking the drug.”
Loyal founder and CEO Celine Halioa said in an interview with the New York Post in June 2025, “The longevity field is very crowded right now, and with good reason. We all want to know how to have happier, healthier years for our loved ones — especially loved ones.” In February, Halioua said on
How do anti aging pills work for dogs?
According to Loyal, LOY-002 is a calorie restriction mimic. That means, it provides the benefits of calorie restriction through a medication, thus creating a situation where there is no weight loss or decreased appetite.
This comes after a study showed that calorie-restricted dogs lived ~2 years longer than other furry companions, and were shown to have a delayed onset of cancer and osteoarthritis. The pill will be for ‘senior’ dogs, Loyal said, and added that they are seeking FDA approval for use in dogs 10 years of age and older and who weigh at least 14 pounds.
