about the watch
Anand Ahuja wore Cartier Crash – a limited edition, luxury watch. The special watch has an artistic touch. Cartier is world famous for its luxurious watches which are nothing short of masterpieces but this watch is in a class by itself. This watch is a historical legend, first launched in London in 1967 and then returned as a limited edition in 1991. The design is unconventional and does not follow the traditional form of symmetry seen in most dials. The dial of the Cartier Crash looks melted, warped at the edges, creating a distorted, oval shape. The band of the watch is brown while the bezel is golden with a dark blue tip at the top.
Inspiration
The design of the watch is inspired by Salvador Dali’s famous surrealist painting ‘The Persistence of Memory’. The painting depicts a dream-like, surreal place in which pocket watches are melted and wrapped around a dry tree.
There is another story surrounding the inspiration, although an even darker one, where the Vice President of Cartier was involved in a car accident, and his watch melted in a fire, taking on an elongated, distorted oval shape.

about price
Considering its features, its high price is justified. The market price is believed to be around $200,000 or Rs 1.68 crore, while the last known retail price was $60,000 or Rs 50,44,000. This watch is a limited edition with a design that beautifully combines unique artistic style with horology.
