Allu Arjun posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) reacting to the death of a fan during the premiere of his latest film Pushpa 2: The Rule. When the actor along with his family went to Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theater to watch the film with fans on December 4, a stampede broke out, resulting in the death of a female fan and her son being admitted to hospital. Allu Arjun reacted on fan’s death
Arjun posted a 3 minute 47 second long video talking about the fan’s death, captioning which he wrote, “Deeply saddened by the tragic incident that happened at Sandhya Theatre. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family during this unimaginably difficult time. I want to assure them that they are not alone in this pain and will meet the family personally. “While respecting their need for space to grieve, I am committed to providing every possible support to help them navigate this challenging journey.”
In the video, he says in Telugu that the huge crowd was ‘unexpected’ when he visited the theater and clarifies that he came to know of the fan’s death only the next morning. He said, “When we went to the premiere of Pushpa at RTC intersection recently, there was an unexpectedly huge crowd. We came to know the next morning that a family got injured in the crowd and Revathi, a mother of two, unfortunately died.”
He said that when he, director Sukumar and the entire team of Pushpa came to know of the news, they were ‘shocked’. “In the last 20 years, I have been to theaters for almost every film; Nothing like this ever happened. We were so disappointed and shocked, none of us felt like celebrating. We make films so that people can enjoy the film in theaters, to know that something like this happened…I can’t explain it in words.
Arjun also told that he has donated Promising to give Rs 25 lakh to the family of the deceased woman, he promised to not only cover their medical expenses but also take care of whatever the children might need in the future. “Nothing we say or do can help the damage,” he said. But from our side, no matter what you need, we are there for you emotionally. I want to donate from my side To show that I am there for you, especially for the children, Rs 25 lakh. We will also cover any medical expenses; “We understand this is difficult for the family.”
He concluded the video by requesting fans to be careful, “We make movies so you can enjoy them with your family. When something like this happens, we also feel bad. I request fans to be careful when you go to theaters and return home safely.
What happened
A woman died and her son was admitted to hospital due to suffocation at a movie theater here during the premiere show of actor Allu Arjun’s film Pushpa 2: The Rule, police told PTI on Thursday. Was admitted.
A case was registered against Arjun, his security team and the theater management in connection with the woman’s death. Police have registered a case under sections 105 and 118 (1) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) at Chikkadpally police station based on the complaint by the family of the deceased. The condition of the boy who suffocated during the stampede still remains critical.
The producers of the film, Mythri Movie Makers and Rashmika Mandanna expressed their displeasure after knowing the news. Meanwhile, Arjun’s team clarified that producer Baani Vaas had already contacted the family and offered financial assistance from his side. Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy said that benefit shows will be banned in Telangana from now on.
