New Delhi [India]April 14 (ANI): In a step to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) in all sections of technical education, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has established a committee to find out the lateral expansion of AI beyond traditional programs like B.Tech in Computer Science.
AICTE Chairman Professor TG Citaram said that under the chairmanship of the committee, Anand Dehpande, constant system managing director, and experts from other major institutions specialized in AI.
“We are putting another committee to present AI later in programs, especially applicable AI. The committee is headed by Anand Deshpande … IITs and NIT experts are also experts in AI.
As part of this initiative, AICTE has introduced AI in programs such as BBA, BCA and Electrical Engineering. The chairman insisted, “Everyone should understand artificial intelligence and data analytics. We have created a new course for BBA and BCA. We have introduced AI in Electrical Engineering.”
AICTE is a national level body responsible for recognition and regulatory technical education in India.
The chairman said that faculty training has been given priority to ensure effective teaching of AI.
“Our teachers must be trained … because one AI is teaching itself, and the other is what is going to change-for example, students will submit assignment. How do you change this question so that they just do not copy it? They will use AI as a tool,” he said.
Declaring 2025 as the year of ‘Artificial Intelligence’, AICTE has initiated several initiatives to promote AI in education. According to reports, the initiative aims to integrate AI in 14,000 colleges and empower 40 million students. Major elements include AI awareness campaign, faculty development and partnership with leading technical companies.
AICTE currently modifies its course every two years through a structured process associated with specialist consultation. The chairman said, “We do every two years (course amendments). For this you have to prepare a committee, you have to sit with experts, as the whole process has been repeated” (ANI)
