Abbas Tyrewala recently shared his opinion about the sequel of Aamir Khan’s film ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’. Imran Khan made his Bollywood debut with this film.
Abbas Tyrewala’s Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008) is considered one of the best films of his career. Recently, the filmmaker spoke about his idea of a sequel to the Imran Khan-Genelia Deshmukh starrer romantic-comedy. In an interview with Cyrus Broacha for his YouTube channel, Abbas said that Aamir Khan was not very impressed with his storyline about Jai and Aditi’s separation. Recalling his discussion with Aamir about the sequel of Jaane Tu…, Abbas said, “I don’t know if I am allowed to say this. Mr Aamir Khan is very sensitive about what should be talked about and what should not be talked about, but soon after Jaane Tu, I had an idea for a sequel.” He also added, “I wasn’t even sure if I was joking or not. I took it to Khan sahab and I told him that the film starts with Jai and Aditi living separately. They have separated and Jai has an affair with Meghna. Aamir said ‘I don’t care who makes the sequel of Jaane Tu, you can never make it.’ He said that’s the stupidest thing.” The filmmaker started laughing while sharing the funny anecdote.

Apart from Imran and Genelia, Jaane Tu… also featured Prateik Babbar, Manjri Fadnis, Murali Sharma, Ratna Pathak, Naseeruddin Shah, Paresh Rawal, Nirav Mehta, Alishka Varde, Karan Makhija and others in crucial roles. Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan also had special appearances in the film. The film was co-produced by Aamir Khan and Mansoor Khan.
Abbas Tyrewala’s Bollywood Career
Abbas is best known for making his directorial debut with the Imran Khan-Genelia Deshmukh starrer Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, produced by Aamir Khan. His last directorial venture was Jhootha Hi Sahi starring John Abraham. Abbas is also credited with writing dialogues for popular Bollywood films like Bang Bang (2014) and War (2019). He also wrote dialogues for Siddharth Anand’s spy action-thriller Pathan (2023), produced by Aditya Chopra. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia, Ashutosh Rana, Prakash Belawadi, Ekta Kaul, Manish Wadhwa and others in pivotal roles.
