Miss India Tripura 2017 Rinki Chakma has passed away at the age of 28. The former Miss India Tripura winner was battling cancer for the last two years, but ultimately succumbed to the disease. She was fighting cancer since 2022. Rinki was first diagnosed with malignant phyllodes tumor (breast cancer), for which she underwent surgery. However, the cancer spread to his lungs and grew to his head, resulting in a brain tumor. A report in Femina said that her health later deteriorated and she was unable to tolerate chemo.
According to news reports, Rinki Chakma’s condition was critical and she was admitted to Max Hospital Saket on February 22. She was on a ventilator in the ICU because one of her lungs was almost non-functional. Last month, the former Miss India Tripura had shared a post on Instagram requesting people to provide financial assistance for her treatment. In the post, she opened up about her cancer journey and how earlier she was not comfortable sharing her health issues on social media.
However, Rinke explained how she and her family now need financial assistance for cancer treatment. She wrote, “I just wanted to let everyone know that I and my family are going through a tough time and the last two years have not been easy with regular hospital stays and seizures. I am accepting donations right now because we Are tired.” All our savings have been spent on my treatment for the last two years. I thought that telling everyone what I was going through would make me feel better too.
Meanwhile, Rinki Chakma won the Miss India Tripura crown in 2017. As a Miss India finalist, Rinki won two sub-titles, Miss Congeniality and Beauty with a Purpose. Manushi Chhillar won the Miss World pageant and Miss India World pageant in the same year.
