Kia has released the first official teaser of its upcoming EV2 electric SUV, ahead of its global production debut at the Brussels Auto Show on January 9. The EV2 will be the smallest model in Kia’s global electric vehicle lineup.
exterior design
The teaser images show the vehicle completely wrapped under a transparent black wrap, offering views from multiple angles without revealing detailed design elements. Kia previously previewed the EV2 in concept form at its Kia EV Day event, and the production model appears to stick close to that original silhouette.
What is visible under the cover reveals that the EV2 has a straight front fascia, a gently sloping roofline, a roof-mounted spoiler and a slightly angled rear windscreen. The lighting signatures at both the front and rear also appear to be largely taken from the concept. The square nose, raised waistline and tapering towards the rear roof area are retained in the production version.

However, some differences are worth noting. The front overhang appears longer on the production model. There also appears to be a conventional B-pillar, another deviation from the concept’s more fundamental layout. While the design of the daytime running lights is not clearly visible through the fabric, it seems to be rather similar to the concept version.

interior layout
Interior details for the production model have not yet been revealed. The EV2 Concept demonstrated a highly flexible cabin layout, featuring sliding front and rear seats designed to maximize passenger comfort and cargo adaptability. It remains to be seen how much of this functionality will be carried forward into the production version.
Powertrain and platform
Kia has not revealed any technical specifications for the EV2 at this stage. It is likely to share its powertrain and underpinnings with the Hyundai Venue, which is sold internationally with two battery pack options: a 39 kWh unit that offers a claimed range of 327 km, and a larger 46 kWh pack rated for up to 369 km. The EV2 is also expected to use a 400-volt electrical architecture, although this has not been confirmed by Kia.

Preparing to launch in India?
EV2 production is mainly planned for Europe to meet the needs of local markets. There has been no official confirmation regarding its launch in India. If introduced, the EV2 will sit alongside entry-level electric SUVs like the Tata Nexon EV and the MG Windsor Pro.
