Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) has announced that the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) examination was successfully conducted on Sunday, November 30. According to the press note of the board, the examination was conducted in a peaceful and completely cheating-free manner at 192 centers across the state.
HBSE said admit cards were issued to 57,268 candidates for the exam, which included 23,031 boys, 34,233 girls and 4 transgender candidates. The examination was conducted without any disruption from 11 am to 2 pm.
The board said that district level flying squads were formed to maintain the purity and transparency of the examination. These teams conducted surprise inspections at various examination centers and informed that the examination was being conducted smoothly and without any malpractice.
Apart from this, District Education Officers also visited the examination centers in their respective districts and confirmed that the arrangements are in place.
HBSE further informed that NMMSS examination is part of the scholarship scheme run by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The objective of this scheme is to identify meritorious students from economically weaker families studying in government and aided schools and assist them in their education.
Students selected through the NMMSS exam receive monthly scholarships from Class 9 to Class 12 to help them continue their studies without financial hardship.
