Prebiotics that support digestive bacteria

Prebiotics aid digestive health in a slightly different way. Instead of adding new bacteria, they serve as fuel for the bacteria already present in the gut. Foods like beans, whole grains, garlic, bananas, onions and asparagus supply that fiber.

Harvard notes that this type of nutrition allows existing bacteria to multiply and assist the intestines in managing nutrient and fluid levels.

Fiber source for smooth digestion

Digestion depends on a series of organs that have to work in sequence from the stomach to the colon. Although the process is complicated, regular food choices make a difference.

Adding probiotic sources, choosing more prebiotic ingredients, and having both types of fiber on a regular basis can provide steady support for digestive health. Small adjustments to the diet can help keep the system running smoothly.
