IMD has predicted snowfall, rain, hailstorm in these states around February 19.

The Meteorological Department has also said that the dense fog conditions in North India will improve in the next one to two days.

However, East and Northeast India may receive some amount of rainfall in the last two weeks of February.

There may be hailstorm in Chhattisgarh, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh between 18-20 February. At the same time, IMD said that there may be moderate rain and hailstorm in Haryana-Chandigarh, Punjab and Uttarakhand on February 19.

Snowfall forecast in February

According to IMD’s weather forecast, “Heavy rain/snowfall is likely at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on February 18 and 19.”

IMD has also issued an alert of snowfall in Uttarakhand on 19 February.

IMD has issued orange alert in Himachal Pradesh for February 19. “Isolated heavy rain/snowfall is very likely over Himachal Pradesh on 18 and 19 February 2024,” IMD Weather said.

Weather Forecast (15-21 February)

According to the latest forecast of IMD, a fresh active western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from February 17.

Light to moderate snowfall/rain with thunderstorm, lightning and hailstorm may occur over Western Himalayan region during 18-21 February.

Further, the IMD predicted light to moderate rainfall with gusty winds (around 30-50 kmph) over Punjab during February 18-20; Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh during 19-21 February and Rajasthan on 19 February.

However, a “weak” western disturbance is likely to affect the Himalayan region and adjoining plains between February 22-28.

The weather monitoring agency said that due to the low level cyclonic circulation over East and Northeast India, there may be rainfall activities for a few days in the last week of February.

Dense fog may occur in isolated areas in Bihar, Odisha, East Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand in the morning. But the cold wave and fog in the national capital Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan are likely to disappear by February 16, the IMD said in a statement.
