Maddock Films has made many films in its horror-comedy universe and all of them have received good response. Be it ‘Stree’ or ‘Bhediya’, the film ‘Thamaa’ starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal, released in theaters on October 21, 2025, is a big disappointment. The story of the film is weak and the climax lacks power. So let us first tell you about the story of the film.
The first half of the film is okay, with some scary scenes and funny moments. However, as the story progresses, the pace slows down and the story becomes boring. The story lacks substance. On the other hand, the climax seems incomplete. It is a horror-comedy in name only, because it cannot be compared with films like ‘Stree’ and ‘Bhediya’.
There is no flaw in Ayushmann’s acting, he has given his best, but the story and script are so weak that even his acting cannot save the film. Regarding Rashmika, the makers failed to utilize her acting skills properly, leaving her as a beautiful vampire. His dialogues were also not prepared properly. Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s acting seems excessive, at times he is seen overacting.
Talking about direction, Aditya Sarpotdar has kept the film very unbalanced. He has created a seamless blend of comedy and horror, leaving the audience confused whether to laugh or be scared. He paid more attention to the sets and scenes, but ignored the story. If he had paid a little more attention to the story, it could have been a great film.
Although the background score is excellent, it does scare you a bit, but the songs of the film harm the pace of the film a lot, because the songs are not that powerful, if the duration of the film was a little less and there were no songs, perhaps the audience would not have got bored. Overall, if you have free time then you can pass the time. By the way, don’t try to consider it a paisa-vasool movie. 2 stars to the film from me.
