Breast health is something that every woman should pay attention to, yet many ignore many subtle signs that can indicate a serious issue. Initial identification can create all differences in treatment and results. In an interview with HT lifestyle, Dr. Sunny Jain, Senior Consultant and HOD, Medical Oncology, Accord Super Specialty Hospital, Faridabad, first signs of breast cancer, which women should never ignore, offered important advice to help catch it in time. Major symptoms for viewing
“Breast cancer is growing worldwide, and is rapidly affecting women at the age, often under 50. That is why regular screening and awareness about breast changes are important. Not all lumps in the breast are cancer;
He recommends, “The first and most important symptom of breast cancer is a lump in the breast. Do not ignore it. If you notice a new lump, swelling, thick, or change in breast size or size, consult your doctor immediately.”
Other warnings include:
- Dimling
- Breast or nipples pain
- Nipple return (turning inward)
- In addition to breast milk, nipple discharge
- Lymph nodes under the hand or near the collarbone
- Breast skin changes
- Changes in nipple, such as dumplings, return, or inverted
“Women should be well aware of these changes and examine their breasts monthly, usually after the menstrual cycle,” Dr. Sunny says.

Understanding breast tissue and self-examination
The mammary glands and fatty tissue are made, which affects how it feels at different age. Little women have dense, strong breasts due to the predominance of gland tissue, while older women feel soft as fatty tissue grows, and can drop over time.
“Knowing these differences helps you determine what a lump can feel,” Dr. Sunny says. “While checking your breasts, use your fingers flat, don’t pinch or hurt. Then start with light touch, then press a little deep. Never press so hard that it causes pain; it means that you are checking very forcefully.”
When to search for diagnosis
If a lump persists and remains out of normal breast tissue, it is necessary to pursue a proper diagnosis regarding the mammogram or ultrasound conclusions. Outpatting core biopsy is the most sure way to determine whether the lumps require follow -up.
“Many lumps become fibrodenomas, which are benign and do not increase the risk of future breast cancer. Some wounds may require affection and may be implications for future breast cancer,” Dr. Sunny note.
Family history is another important factor. In young women, many cases of breast cancer, bilateral breast cancer, ovarian cancer or breast cancer in men can warrant gene testing.
What are the treatment options
Treatment in diagnosis depends on the stage, type, receptor status and age of cancer. Options include:
- Surgery
- Chemotherapy
- Radiotherapy
- Immunotherapy and targeted therapy
- Hormonal therapy
Dr. Sunny insisted, “Any woman over 40 years of age presented with breast lumps should be considered suffering from breast cancer until otherwise proves.”
Regular self-examination, awareness about subtle changes, timely consultation, and assessment of family history are important steps that every woman should take. Dr. Sunny advised, “Life is saved by initial detection. Never ignore minor changes in your breast.”
