According to media reports, Maruti’s air copter will be bigger in size than a drone, but smaller than a helicopter. It will have the capability to fly with three people. The air copter will first be launched in the markets of Japan and America, after which it will also be launched in India. There are also reports that the company may start manufacturing it in India to keep the manufacturing cost low.
The air copter will fly with a weight of 1.4 tonnes.
May be launched in 2025
Maruti’s electric air copter can be launched under the name of SkyDrive. 12 electric motors and rotors will be used to fly it. There is also information that it can be presented in the Osaka Expo to be held in Japan in 2025.
According to a news published in Economic Times, Suzuki Motor is currently conducting market research to identify potential customers and partners in India. The company believes that to be successful in India, air copters should be cheap.
Air copter will be able to fly from the roof
The report claims that this air copter will be able to fly with passengers with a take-off weight of 1.4 tonnes. The air copter will be about half the weight of a conventional helicopter. Due to its low weight, it can use building rooftops for takeoff and landing. Additionally, due to electrification, the number of aircraft parts has reduced significantly, resulting in reduced manufacturing and maintenance costs, the report further said.
