Radhakrishnan completed his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at VO Chidambaram College, Tuticorin. As a student, he was active in sports and excellent as a table tennis champion. During his adolescence years, he developed interest in the patriot and joined the organization at the age of 17, marking the beginning of his political journey. He started his political career in 1974 and led the Tamil Nadu unit of the Bharatiya Jan Sangh. He was elected as an MP from Coimbatore in both 1998 and 1999. During his tenure in the Lok Sabha, he became the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on textiles and contributed to various important committees including Finance. From 2004 to 2007, BJP appointed him as the state president of Tamil Nadu. Radhakrishnan served as the chairman of the COIR Board from 2016 to 2020, during that time COIR exports achieved record levels. In February 2023, he was appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand, and within four months, he visited all 24 districts of the state.
