It is not always that the actors speak against their films before their release. This is the reason that Saswata Chatterjee’s statement about his upcoming film, The Bengal files raised some eyebrows. The actor claims that he was misled while doing the film and did not even know what the film was. However, the film’s producer and actor Pallavi Joshi has fought those claims, calling them untrue.
What did Sasavata Chatterjee say
Bengal files are directed by Vivek Agnihotri and the bloody chapter of history in the partition of Bengal is based on Direct Action Day. Pallavi, Vivek’s wife, is not only acting in the film, but is also co-producing it. Saswata Chatterjee has a small role in the film. Talking with The Wall News, the actor said, “Nowadays, they don’t share the whole story with anyone. Only one track is given, and only the character is explained. When I was told about his role, it was called a strong character, a villain-type role, which very few actors get.” Throughout the shooting, the film’s name was Deli Files. After the shooting was over, I noticed that the name was changed to Bengal files. ,
Pallavi Joshi reacted
In a special chat with Hindustan Times, Pallavi Joshi addressed Saswata Chatterjee’s statements and said, “I think what is happening. While in Bengal, he is facing a lot of political pressure. Still, my point is that I am a woman and a man. I am saying a man right before.
Bengal files are still two weeks away from release, but it has already faced opposition from political parties in West Bengal, claiming that it incorrectly presents history. The launch of the film’s trailer in Kolkata saw the protest and disintegration of the incident.
Pallavi says that all the actors fully knew what the film was about, and they were given a ‘full, bound script’. “It can be with other projects, but not in our films. We work with bound scripts,” she says, “All the actors were told what the script and the story were. This man also knows the incate character (on which his character is based).
About Bengal Files
When the film was announced, it was called Delhi files. Explaining in detail why the title was changed, Pallavi explains, “It was a working title. We always knew that the Direct Action Day would be a part of it. And then, after the script was written, when we realized that all of it is about Bengal, we kept saying that these Bengal files will be made. Delhi and Bengal are the stories of the film.”
The Bengal Files Stars Darshan Kumar, Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Sourav Das, Simrat Kaur, and Rajesh Khera, Apart from Palavi and Saswata. The film will release in theatres on 5 September.
