BMW Group India has announced that it has crossed 5,000 electric car delivery, which claims its seat as the first luxury car manufacturer of the country to reach this milestone. To mark the occasion, the company has inaugurated a high-power charging corridor extending from north to south of India to 4,000 km, which aims to address the range concerns and increase charging infrastructure for better long distance EV utility.

Charging Corridor: What you should know
The new inauguration corridor runs with major national highways and connects major cities including Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Hubli, Bangalore, Coimbatore and Madurai. Charging stations have been deployed at an interval of 300 km to ensure convenient access to EV owners. BMW Group India has confirmed that these charger will be open to the customers of all EV brands.
The company says the locations of charging stations have been selected keeping in mind the customer facility, with the chargers near public places where the driver can use dining outlets or use in-car entertainment during the charging stop. The station will have a capacity of 120 kW to 720 kW and will support rapid charging for modern EVS. BMW is operating these stations in partnership with operators such as static and zone.
Digital services
EV owners can use integrated digital services through MyBMW app and in-car system, and include live charger availability, filter options and information on the surrounding features. The company additionally provides a charging conservative service, providing root planning aid and an integrated payment gateway.
BMW Public Charging Ecosystem
The charging corridor is complementary to the current charging infrastructure of BMW Group India, which includes about 300 BMW Destination Chargers located in hotels, resorts and shopping malls across the country. Overall, the company offers more than 6,000 charging points in India through its partnership with major public networks.
