Police sources allege that Hindol Majumdar was one of the masterminds behind the attack at Madavpur University on the convoy of Bengal Education Minister Batiya Basu.

Hindol Mazumdar, an alumnus of pharmaceutical technology at Jadavpur University, has been detained and later arrested by the Kolkata Police with the help of Delhi Police. A lookout notice was issued against him, due to which he got into custody as soon as he landed in India. Police sources allege that one of the masterminds behind Mazumdar was attack On March 1, on the convoy of Bengal Education Minister Batiya Basu at Jadavpur University.
Mazumdar is currently doing PhD at the University of Granada in Spain and was abroad at the time of the incident. The police have received a transit remand and will take him to Kolkata, where he will be produced in court.
Hindol comes from a highly educated family – both of them are retired engineering professors from his parents Jadavpur University. Speaking especially from AyraNews24x7, his father, Chandan Mazumdar said, “We were very surprised, because we were not aware that there was a lookout notice against him. Police sources claim that they have evidence plotting in the attack and instructed the students that, “Come, the Education Minister would have to attack”. He also states that his arrest confirms are chat messages.
Meanwhile, Ultra-Left student organizations are opposing their arrest at Jadavpur University. Indranuj Roy – Those who were first arrested in the same case – posted on social media: “Hindol Mazumdar, one of the founding members of the Democratic Youth Students Association (DYSA) and one of the former engineering faculty students, Jadavpur University, who was currently arresting his PhD in Spain, was taken into custody. A lookout order was issued against him … All progressive and democratic forces should be united to oppose the ongoing militaryization of the academic and demand their immediate, unconditional release. “
On the other hand, Trinmool Congress has defended arrests. A TMC spokesperson said, “The police has done the right thing. There is digital evidence against him, and the law will take its curriculum.”
On 1 March, Education Minister Bratya Basu visited Jadavpur University, where he was surrounded, and his car was attacked.
