She gained tremendous popularity from the powerful character of passion in ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’, and she appeared as a detective in the recently released web series ‘Salakar’. In an interview to Zoom, Mouni clearly said that it is not easy for outsiders to get a main role in the film industry. They have to struggle a lot to make their identity in the industry.
‘Hard for outsiders’
He said, ‘Here you are as big as your last project. Getting good rolls for outsiders is always a constant struggle. Whatever opportunities you get, I try to choose from them thoughtfully.
Mouni believes that despite talent and prior success, if you are not from the film background, then making a place in the big projects of the industry becomes even more challenging. According to him, the relationship and network here are more important than talent, due to which many qualified artists do not get opportunities.
This statement reflects Mouni’s personal experience, which reveals the hidden reality behind the glitter of the industry. Their views are part of the major debate on the inclusiveness in Indian cinema and OTT platforms. Digital streaming platforms have opened many ways for new and talented artists in the last few years. Here new talent has started getting a chance with different types of stories and characters. Nevertheless, Mouni believes that systematic obstacles are still present and conscious efforts are necessary to eliminate them.
